A very engaging talk by Karen Armstrong on the important role of compassion in our lives.
“Often people don’t really want to be compassionate….because people often want to be ‘right’ instead.”
“If we don’t manage to implement the Golden Rule globally, so that we treat all peoples whoever they may be as though they were as important as ourselves, I doubt that we’ll have a viable world to hand on to the next generation.”
“We don’t have to fall in love with each other but we can become friends.”
Weeks from the Charter for Compassion launch, Karen Armstrong looks at religion’s role in the 21st century: Will its dogmas divide us? Or will it unite us for common good? She reviews the catalysts that can drive the world’s faiths to rediscover the Golden Rule.

This is a great video, thank you for sharing. I love that she brings intelligence and friendship into compassion…that compassion is about a common goal, not necessarily just a ‘gooey’ love feeling. 😉 Blogging is a wonderful way to spread the message of compassion too – thank you! 🙂
