This has been a challenging year for many, and we need to make the most of the dream time of mid-winter to set us up for the coming year. Even if you are in celebration mode, try to find the space for solitude and rest; to venture out for walks in nature and to dedicate time for quiet reflection, meditation and relaxation over the coming weeks.
This beautiful blessing by John O’Donohue is my heartfelt wish for us all as we transition into 2018-
Beannacht / Blessing
On the day when
the weight deadens
on your shoulders
and you stumble,
may the clay dance
to balance you.
And when your eyes
freeze behind
the grey window
and the ghost of loss
gets in to you,
may a flock of colours,
indigo, red, green,
and azure blue
come to awaken in you
a meadow of delight.
When the canvas frays
in the currach of thought
and a stain of ocean
blackens beneath you,
may there come across the waters
a path of yellow moonlight
to bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
wind work these words
of love around you,
an invisible cloak
to mind your life.”
John O’Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom
May you all have a peace-filled and restful festive period.

Thanks for the beautiful blessings Laura. Happy Holidays to you and Santa Paws! 🙂
I love your ‘Day After Christmas’ poem, Brad. So important to honor our entire emotional world. I hope your intention setting is going wonderfully. May 2018 be better than you could even dream of! 💚
Many thanks, Laura, for your nice thoughts. I particularly liked, “When the canvas frays / in the currach of thought / and a stain of ocean / blackens beneath you,/ may there come across the waters / a path of yellow moonlight / to bring you safely home….” Wishing you all these and much more as you sail into 2018…
Yes, they are beautiful lines. O’Donohue had a magical way with words. Sending warm wishes for 2018 and beyond to you too Raj.xo
Laura, I missed this at the time of its posting my friend..
So true, this is what is needed, we need to reconnect with our Earth Mother, and take that time out to be in Nature and to also reconnect within ourselves..
Many thanks for your wonderful Well Wishes Laura, and I wish you a very Happy Healthy Peaceful Year, May it be your best yet..
Love and Blessings
