I have been reflecting on the amazing year that was 2013. SO much change- I’m a different person about six times over! I really don’t recognise Laura from this time last year as being the Laura I am today.
When you change so much in such a short space of time, people around you sometimes find that challenging. It can be difficult for others to understand why you make such drastic changes to your life, why you are not interested in the things you used to be (or pretended to be!), why you are not willing to compromise as much. This is all understandable, so it can be quite challenging to hold to yourself and be your truth in those situations- a lot of the time it’s easier to slip into old patterns or to make yourself ‘smaller’ so others’ don’t feel as uncomfortable.
This is a beautiful quote from Marianne Williamson that I always come back to when I feel that pull between the old and the true me. I think it is really powerful and worth writing it out and sticking it somewhere you can see daily:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
-Marianne Williamson
I hope you are all allowing your light to shine bright!
With love and light,

nice quote 🙂
Yeah, I love it! Those first two sentences are especially powerful and really resonate with me.
Great reading your post! I too, love the quote by Marianne Williamson and even put it in my book, The Right Relationship Starts with You, and on my blog last year. It is definitely powerful and keeps us on the path we are meant to follow. Blessings, Cathie
