Osho on Creativity

“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.”

You have presented a bouquet of thoughts on creativity, Laura, reflecting its many facets. Maya is right when she says that creativity cannot be exhausted; it is like akshaya in Sanskrit, meaning ‘that which is not diminishing’. Osho is right when he says that one has to be in love with life to be creative; according to Upanishads, the universe is born out of Kama, meaning ‘desire’ in Sanskrit, of purusha and prakriti, again Sanskrit, to mean the male and female energy. In other words, the desire of male and female energy created the universe. Kurt Vonnegut’s exhortation of practising art to aid soul’s growth is right yet again, as practice clears path to perfection, not only by advancing the craft but also by refining the artist’s soul…best wishes.
