“I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.” Frank Herbert, Dune

Feb Post 3_Dune

I am beginning to re-read the epic, allegorical novel, Dune by Frank Herbert. There are far too many amazing quotes throughout to mention all of them here but as it was calling me to re-read, I felt the draw to post a few of the quotes I keep in my notebook.

Have a read through the following seven quotes slowly and with full awareness.

“Anything outside yourself, this you can see and apply your logic to it. But it’s a human trait that when we encounter personal problems, these things most deeply personal are the most difficult to bring out for our logic to scan. We tend to flounder around, blaming everything but the actual, deep-seated thing that’s really chewing on us.”

“Some people never observe anything. Life just happens to them. They get by on little more than a kind of dumb persistence, and they resist with anger and resentment anything that might lift them out of that false serenity.”

“Confine yourself to observing and you always miss the point of your own life. The object can be stated this way: Live the best life you can. Life is a game whose rules you learn if you leap into it and play it to the hilt. Otherwise, you are caught off balance, continually surprised by the shifting play. Non-players often whine and complain that luck always passes them by. They refuse to see that they can create some of their own luck.”

“Many things we do naturally become difficult only when we try to make them intellectual subjects. It is possible to know so much about a subject that you become totally ignorant.”

“Spend energies on those who make you strong. Energy spent on weaklings drags you to doom.”

“How often it is that the angry man rages denial of what his inner self is telling him.”

“To suspect your own mortality is to know the beginning of terror, to learn irrefutably that you are mortal is to know the end of terror.”

I feel these are apt for this stage of the ‘Embrace the Darkness Challenge’ and could help to bring some of those buried emotions, patterns, memories, feelings etc to the surface in order for them to be looked at and released.

“Whether a thought is spoken or not it is a real thing and has powers of reality.”

I have seen personally, with friends, with clients and with others working in the area of energy healing, the energy of this month is most definitely that of the darkness wanting to come to light. If you are feeling this is the case for you, you may be feeling overwhelmed by these realisations and you may be feeling ‘stuck’. Know you are not the only one!

I’ve used these quotes as a means to perhaps trigger a reaction so you can see where you are being called to look within. Whether or not these quotes create a reaction within you, if you are feeling this energy, you will be making realisations and seeing parts of yourself that have been buried deep. The following could be used as a tool to help support you in these moments:

1. Ask yourself-

What am I reacting to here?

What emotion is being brought up?

Is it connected to a memory?

What part of me is speaking?

Where in my body am I holding this thought/feeling/emotion?

2. Allow yourself to truly go into that emotion and to truly feel it in that part of your body.

Cry or shout or scream or moan or sing or hit a cushion or bang cupboards- allow anything you feel moved to sound or do.

3. Ask yourself-

Am I ready to let this go?

4. When you feel you are ready to let it go, speak with compassion and love to that part of yourself-

“I hear you. I feel you. You are valid. Thank you. It is now time to let you go”

5. Let all the feelings and sensations go. Allow yourself to release and feel lighter.

“Since every individual is accountable ultimately to the self, formation of that self demands the utmost care and attention.”

It takes huge bravery and courage to go into these shadow parts but the reward is more than worth it.

“Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

And remember:

“Knowing where the trap is– that’s the first step in evading it.”

Be brave. Be courageous. Embrace the Darkness and in so doing:

Allow Yourself to be Free!

With love and light,

Laura.x
